This graduate program offers a practical, course-focused approach to adult education and community development, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. The curriculum prepares learners for diverse roles in education, organizational growth, and community building across public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
The MEd in Adult Education & Community Development (AECD) provides a comprehensive, practice-oriented graduate experience that bridges theory and application in adult learning and community engagement. It examines learning processes that occur both individually and collectively - in workplaces, neighborhoods, social initiatives, digital spaces, and anywhere people unite to drive societal transformation. Ideal for aspiring educators and community leaders, this program develops competencies for roles in public institutions, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Alumni frequently work with immigrant populations, youth programs, gender-focused initiatives, labor unions, marginalized groups, and underserved communities in capacities involving educational outreach, policy creation, leadership training, mentoring, and organizational strategy. This non-research degree path is designed for practitioners rather than those pursuing academic or research-oriented careers.
