The Master of Arts in European and Eurasian Studies offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary education for students aiming for careers in government, diplomacy, journalism, business, research, or teaching. This program also serves as excellent preparation for those considering doctoral studies focused on Europe and Eurasia. Students can optionally combine this degree with specializations in Jewish Studies or Ethnic, Immigration and Pluralism Studies.
The Centre for European and Eurasian Studies (CEES) serves as the academic hub for MA candidates, offering substantial financial assistance through fellowships and support for internships, language programs, and international study. A distinctive feature of this two-year program is its mandatory fieldwork component, where students typically dedicate a summer or semester to overseas research or training, with CEES providing guidance and practical assistance.
At least some of the work in the program is based on the study of original texts and presupposes a reading knowledge of a language relevant to the program. Preferably, applicants should have a minimum of one academic year of study in a relevant language and are urged to undertake additional language training in the summer preceding entry to the program.
