The JD/MSW dual degree program merges the law school's collaborative academic approach with its focus on public service law. This joint initiative between the Faculty of Law and Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work enables aspiring professionals to specialize in fields where legal and social work practices intersect, such as child protection, mental health services, policy development, and rights advocacy, through an integrated curriculum culminating in both JD and MSW qualifications.
This accelerated pathway lets students earn both degrees in four years instead of the typical five required for separate programs. Applicants holding a BSW receive credit for their prior education, skipping the first year of the MSW coursework. These students only need to complete years one, three, and four of the combined curriculum, finishing their JD/MSW in just three years.
