The Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CEES) stands as a premier academic institution in North America, specializing in research on EU nations, former Soviet states, and Central/Eastern European countries. CEES fosters cross-disciplinary research and education across social sciences and humanities while offering graduate students a vibrant intellectual community. Beyond connecting students with the nation's most extensive faculty expertise on these regions, the center facilitates interactions with visiting scholars, regional leaders (both former and current), and hosts a comprehensive schedule of lectures, seminars, and conferences across relevant fields during the academic year.
Legal transformations play a pivotal role in Russia and Eastern Europe's ongoing changes. The joint JD/MA (European and Russian Affairs) Program, offered in collaboration with the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, allows law students to integrate regional studies with their legal education. This accelerated program enables students to earn both degrees in four years instead of the typical five. Participants complete their first-year law curriculum exclusively at the Faculty of Law before spending the remaining three years simultaneously meeting JD requirements and the combined program's specialized coursework.
