Our chemistry program is built around hands-on laboratory experiences, where you'll work directly with essential equipment and build relationships with faculty. We maintain small class sizes of no more than 20 students per instructor, ensuring personalized guidance as you master practical skills using current industry-standard technologies. Both our specialist and major programs include optional co-op placements, providing 12 months of paid professional experience that can be structured flexibly - choose between three 4-month terms, one 4-month and one 8-month term, or a single 12-month placement. Our accomplished faculty, including award-winning researchers, actively involve students in innovative projects both in lab settings and fieldwork environments.
The major program establishes comprehensive knowledge across all chemistry subfields while allowing room for a second major, combining robust theoretical understanding with significant lab practice. The specialist track offers a more concentrated approach, delivering thorough theoretical and practical training in contemporary chemistry. After establishing core knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, you'll apply these fundamentals to specialized chemistry areas before undertaking an original fourth-year research project.
The Chemical Institute of Canada has accredited this program, acknowledging its exceptional laboratory course offerings and diverse experiential learning components.
