Pharmacology and Toxicology are interdisciplinary life sciences that explore how chemical substances interact with biological organisms. These fields establish the foundational knowledge for understanding chemical effects in healthcare, utilizing drugs for treatment or research purposes, creating and regulating medications, and studying environmental toxins and their societal impacts. The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology provides four Specialist and two Major undergraduate programs, collaboratively offered by the Faculties of Arts and Science and Medicine. The Specialist tracks particularly enhance student learning by incorporating hands-on laboratory training and practical experience through guided research initiatives and involvement in the Arts & Science Internship Program (detailed below). Aspiring researchers and professionals in these fields are advised to choose a Specialist program to maximize their exposure to practical, experiential learning opportunities.
