St Michael's College takes great pride in its dynamic interdisciplinary curriculum and inclusive, multicultural environment. Learners engage with globally renowned academics in a picturesque setting that combines the intimacy of a small liberal arts institution with the vast resources of a top-tier research university. Instruction primarily occurs within the College's historic campus, enhanced by access to the Kelly Library, the University of Toronto's second-largest collection. The institution fosters intellectual curiosity, offering students chances to innovate through hands-on experiences like operating a printing press, undertaking research positions, experimenting with virtual reality, and participating in international study programs.
The interdisciplinary Mediaeval Studies curriculum examines the history, traditions, and linguistics of the 5th to 15th centuries - an era (alternatively referred to as medieval times or the Middle Ages) often linked to Arthurian tales, mythical creatures, exquisite handcrafted texts, monastic practices, Norse and Celtic cultures, and groundbreaking advances in science, religion, and philosophy. Participants can learn Middle English and Latin, examine ancient manuscripts, and conduct original research. The program additionally motivates students to investigate how medieval influences have shaped later artistic and cultural developments across generations.
