CIRHR's graduate programs are consistently ranked among North America's top offerings, with a faculty that embodies our university's rich diversity and academic range. The Industrial Relations and Human Resources (IRHR) undergraduate program aims to deliver a multidisciplinary education focused on workplace and employment systems within Canadian and international frameworks, drawing from disciplines including economics, history, law, HR management, political science, psychology, and sociology. This program equips students with both theoretical foundations and up-to-date industry knowledge, preparing them for diverse career paths such as HR Generalist, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Organizational Development Consultant, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, Learning and Development Specialist, Corporate Educator, Labour Policy Analyst, Union Advocate, and Employee Relations Consultant. The IRHR undergraduate degree also serves as an excellent foundation for advanced studies in HR and industrial relations, labor-focused legal specializations, or public policy and labor research programs.
The Work and Organization (IRW) concentration takes a cross-disciplinary approach to examining modern workplace transformations and organizational dynamics. This program develops critical competencies for addressing societal challenges through strategic coordination within businesses and communities. IRW responds to growing student interest in organizational studies by offering core knowledge that enhances and integrates with other Arts & Science disciplines. Graduates will be well-prepared to adapt to dynamic employment landscapes.
We strongly recommend students utilize both the CIRHR Library and Career Centre to research emerging employment trends and professional opportunities in HR and labor relations. In Ontario, the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) oversees professional certification, including the nationally recognized Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) credential. IRHR students should explore HRPA's member resources. Housed within Woodsworth College, the IRHR Program Office provides students access to comprehensive academic support services and campus facilities.
