The undergraduate program at the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies (CDTPS) blends comprehensive academic study with exceptional hands-on training. Students gain both analytical and creative abilities to examine important cultural, societal, and political topics within the Humanities and other fields. The curriculum includes theater history, performance theory, dramatic literature, technical production, and practical workshops, alongside beginner and advanced classes in acting, stagecraft, directing, and scriptwriting. Innovative spaces like the Digital Dramaturgy Lab (DDL)² and the cutting-edge BMO Lab for Creative Research in Arts, Performance, Emerging Technologies, and AI give students global, cross-disciplinary platforms to experiment with technological applications in performance.
Our graduates often pursue double majors across diverse disciplines such as English, Gender Studies, Film, Anthropology, Computer Science, and more. The program provides access to performance venues including the Helen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse and Luella Massey Studio Theatre, along with various rehearsal spaces exclusively for CDTPS students and instructors.
