Art History provides students with a dynamic platform to hone analytical abilities for evaluating visual works and grasping art's role across diverse cultures and eras, including modern times. The curriculum covers artistic traditions from antiquity to the present day, exploring creations from Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Through the Specialist, Major, and Minor programs, students master fundamental analytical techniques alongside cutting-edge methodologies in the discipline.
Focusing on this field can prepare graduates for museum/gallery curation, careers in creative industries like advertising, digital media, or film, educational roles after advanced study, independent artistic pursuits, or simply a richer appreciation of visual culture.
First-year Art History students should consult the undergraduate advisor during enrollment for academic planning. CCIT students exploring a combined major with art studies should also schedule an advising session to review their academic path.
