The Daniels Faculty's Honours Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies (BAAS) program offers students a unique liberal arts education through the perspective of architecture at the University of Toronto. Architecture serves as both a professional field and an academic discipline, opening doors to diverse career paths. Professionally, it holds a crucial position in shaping our built environment, connecting technical aspects with social considerations, and blending practical applications with theoretical foundations. This creative and cultural practice actively engages with urban development, technological advancements, environmental concerns, and cultural representation. It encompasses everything from designing household items to planning entire metropolitan areas.
Our faculty prioritizes integrating design thinking as a valuable addition to the University of Toronto's humanities and science curriculum. Consequently, architectural studies intersect with various fields in social sciences, humanities, engineering, technology, and media studies.
The Architectural Studies program strives to develop visually literate and critically thinking graduates, equipping them for advanced studies in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and design, while also preparing them for careers in creative industries, historical preservation, business, media, public administration, and other evolving cultural sectors shaped by societal transformations.
