The East Asian Studies graduate program provides two specialization tracks: Classical East Asian Studies and Modern East Asian Studies, culminating in MA and PhD degrees.
Our Department serves as a hub for exploring the rich cultural traditions of China, Japan, and Korea, along with their historical exchanges both within the region and globally. We prioritize cross-regional and multidisciplinary approaches, encompassing areas such as historical research, literary analysis, philosophical inquiry, film studies, and cultural examination across both contemporary and historical periods. Applicants should demonstrate advanced proficiency in at least one East Asian language before joining the program.
Normally, completion of the MA program in the Department of East Asian Studies, or its equivalent from a recognized university, with an average grade of at least A–.
