Biochemistry explores molecular mechanisms behind biological phenomena, serving as a cornerstone for all life science fields. Our graduate program in Biochemistry provides students access to cutting-edge research facilities, offering Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees across diverse specializations. These include investigating structure-function relationships in proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and complex systems like membranes and cellular components.
Cell biology examines the architecture and operations of cells - life's basic building blocks that form tissues and organisms. Though all cells share certain biochemical processes, they also develop specialized functions. Our Department focuses on understanding how these biochemical pathways coordinate during development and in response to physiological changes, as well as how they malfunction in disease states. Researchers employ advanced techniques such as functional genomics, proteomics, structural biology, high-resolution imaging, and biosensor development to address fundamental questions in cellular health and disease.
