The Veterinary Microbiology Department brings together students passionate about infectious diseases, investigating research questions across molecular to population scales. Our shared focus lies in examining microorganisms and their interactions with humans and animals.
Our department aims to maintain and expand globally recognized collaborative research initiatives tackling infectious diseases at the intersection of animal, human, and environmental health. We also provide comprehensive veterinary training programs at all academic levels to meet society's evolving needs.
Key research strengths within our faculty include: disease ecology, climate change impacts on infections, human-animal-environment disease interfaces, emerging pathogens, antibiotic resistance, pet-related zoonoses, microbiome studies, molecular diagnostics, vaccine development, and viral-host interactions. We take pride in our thriving graduate program in these fields and value our faculty's diverse expertise as a source of collaborative potential.
