The M.A. in Applied Linguistics is a two-year research-focused master's degree program. This Master of Arts program requires completing five three-credit courses in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, along with developing and defending an original thesis. Students conduct innovative research on indigenous and minority languages in Saskatchewan and Canada, as well as global language studies and teaching methodologies. Our program particularly welcomes research in sociolinguistics, language preservation (both domestic and international), Canadian heritage languages, grammatical structures, sound systems, TESOL, and various aspects of language learning (second, foreign, and native). Additional language-related research topics may also be explored upon consultation.
