Founded in 2008 through a partnership between the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) has rapidly emerged as one of Canada's premier institutions for policy education, serving both graduate students and public sector professionals committed to enhancing public value. Learners can choose from various course-based and research-oriented programs available on-campus or through online platforms. The Graduate Certificate in Social Economy and Co-operatives is jointly administered with the University of Saskatchewan's Centre for the Study of Co-operatives (USask).
This specialized certificate program equips students with knowledge about the significance of co-operatives and social economy entities in contemporary society. The curriculum explores policy and governance issues related to the formation, operation, and challenges of these organizations, examining government involvement and policy measures that foster their growth, while assessing whether such initiatives constitute sound public policy approaches.
