Mechanical engineers analyze how systems function, viewing the world through the lens of moving components. They engage in research, design, and product development across scales - from enormous power generators to minuscule biomedical instruments.
USask has transformed its first-year engineering curriculum to enhance student success and make learning more engaging. This innovative program, called RE-ENGINEERED, stands unique in Canada. It aims to spark enthusiasm and creativity in budding engineers.
The RE-ENGINEERED approach replaces stressful final exams with continuous assessments through assignments and quizzes, allowing for academic improvement throughout the term. Scheduled daily tutorials provide timely support, while practical courses replace traditional exams, offering hands-on exploration of various engineering fields.
Students select their engineering specialization (major/discipline) after completing first year, which then becomes the focus of their advanced studies in subsequent years.
