The program explores language's impact on individuals, communities, and cultures. You'll examine fundamental aspects like phonetics, morphology, syntax, as well as linguistic diversity across regions and time periods. The curriculum also covers cognitive dimensions including language acquisition, processing, literacy development, and bilingualism.
Prospective Honours students should meet with departmental advisors during their second year. Degree requirements stipulate no more than 60 credits in a single subject, with at least 66 senior-level credits out of the 120 needed for the B.A. completion.
