The Department of Sociology and Anthropology provides major and minor programs in Sociology (SOC), Anthropology (ANTH), and a Combined Sociology/Anthropology Major (SAN). Honors programs are available for each discipline. Our globally-respected faculty bring diverse expertise from research and studies conducted across multiple countries and social contexts. With courses spanning nearly all aspects of society and culture, students gain worldly knowledge while developing essential communication and analytical abilities for numerous career paths. Alumni have pursued advanced degrees in sociology, anthropology, social work, education, law, international development, criminology, law enforcement, and more.
An Anthropology degree similarly opens doors to diverse professional fields. Graduates have excelled in education, legal careers, law enforcement, international development initiatives, corporate sectors (including NGOs), museums, human resources, market research, and product development (some companies maintain dedicated anthropology teams).
