The Faculty of Engineering provides a dynamic research atmosphere where mechanical, civil, chemical, electrical, computer, and software engineering disciplines intersect with computer science in a distinctive collaborative setting.
Aspiring students can enroll in joint Master of Computer Science (MCS) or Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (PhD) programs offered through a partnership between the University of Ottawa's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) and Carleton University's School of Computer Science, coordinated by the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science (OCICS). The Institute oversees these graduate programs and facilitates academic collaboration between the two universities. Alongside faculty from both computer science departments, the Institute includes members with computer science specialization from various other academic units.
Have a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in computer science (or equivalent), with a minimum average of B (70%).
The Accelerated Stream has three additional requirements. Candidates must:
Complete two OCICS master’s courses each with 70% (B) or higher grade (taken during their Bachelor’s program in Computer Science or Software Engineering).
Have an admission average of A- (80%) or higher.
Have a thesis supervisor.
