The Faculty of Arts' Department of Communication provides an MA program in Communication, available with either a thesis or research paper track. Those choosing the research paper option can additionally pursue a dual degree program in partnership with Université catholique de Louvain, enabling them to obtain both a Master en communication multilingue and a University of Ottawa MA simultaneously.
The research paper Master's track includes an optional specialization in health communication.
Additionally, the department offers a coursework-based Master of Communication (MC) with an available co-op component, along with a PhD in Communication.
As part of interdisciplinary offerings, the department contributes to the collaborative Science, Society and Policy program.
The MA curriculum emphasizes two key research areas: media studies and organizational communication. Media studies explores both traditional and digital media content and operations within their broader social, cultural, economic, political, and regulatory frameworks.
