Many music graduates pursue careers as piano instructors, working in private studios or dedicated music schools, with numerous educators seeking to further their professional development either right after completing their undergraduate studies or after gaining some teaching experience. The Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy Research was specifically designed to address these aspirations.
Research exploring piano teaching methodologies is currently experiencing increased attention. This program offers comprehensive examination of existing pedagogical research and related fields, enhancing our comprehension of piano learning processes. Participants will gain the ability to integrate evidence-based approaches into their teaching methods, ultimately cultivating highly skilled professionals passionate about advancing research in this discipline.
Students can enroll in the Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy Research either part-time or full-time. Those choosing full-time study typically finish within two terms (September through April), while all candidates must complete the program within a three-year timeframe.

Upon acceptance, they can apply previously completed diploma coursework toward their master's degree requirements, with remaining credits evaluated based on their selected graduate program.
Candidates are required to have one of the following: a BMus; a four-year honours BA in music; an equivalent degree, or diploma. They must have achieved a 75 per cent (B+) average in their undergraduate degree or equivalent diploma. Students must understand, speak and write either English or French fluently.
