Students will develop expertise and have chances to implement their learning across diverse sports, leisure, and physical activity organizations and settings. They'll receive both theoretical and hands-on instruction in governance and management fundamentals, covering areas like strategic planning, policy development, marketing, business creation, and communication strategies. Learners will analyze how sports organizations, events, and festivals affect communities while assessing how sports and recreation policies influence both individuals and society as a whole.
Upon completing the program, graduates will possess management competencies that facilitate smoother workplace integration and enable meaningful contributions to their employers and communities. They'll develop abilities to advise and influence policymakers throughout the sports sector, from local governments to national bodies like Sport Canada and global sports federations. Our alumni additionally cultivate relationship-building, professional networking, and analytical skills that enhance their employment prospects. Career opportunities span multiple sectors of the sports and recreation field (public, nonprofit, or commercial) at all geographic levels. Our curriculum's dual focus on core concepts and practical application prepares graduates for diverse professional positions. For instance, our alumni can assume executive, administrative, and oversight roles in amateur sports (including university athletics and Olympic committees), major event coordination (such as international tournaments), professional franchises, and government agencies. Graduates may also continue their education through academic or applied graduate programs.
