Engaging in close reading, profound thinking, and effective writing: an English literature degree presents unparalleled intellectual stimulation and benefits while establishing a strong foundation for advanced education and career growth. Our Department provides comprehensive courses covering all significant historical eras and global traditions of English literature, alongside specialized subjects including speculative fiction, imaginative literature, youth literature, digital media, and eco-criticism. Develop the ability to utilize timeless narratives across various mediums – from classic novels and poetry to films and visual storytelling – to address contemporary critical concerns, whether societal, ecological, technological, or artistic.
The Honours Program enables more intensive and specialized study compared to the Majors Program, featuring a curated selection of advanced courses (3000-level) focusing on key literary periods and themes. This program can be paired with a Minor in another discipline, offering both depth and diversity that ideally prepares students for professional or graduate school applications, as well as careers in high school education.

Generally, to be admitted to an undergraduate program, you have to meet the following criteria:
• You have obtained or are in the process of obtaining your secondary school diploma or your country’s equivalent diploma.
• You are registered in or have passed at least five courses at the highest secondary school level available to you.
• You are completing all the prerequisites for the program you are applying for. You must complete all prerequisite courses for a program at the highest secondary school level available to you, unless otherwise indicated.
