The Interdisciplinary Studies (IDIS) program spans multiple academic fields, allowing faculty from various graduate programs to contribute. As such, the IDIS Graduate Program invites all qualified faculty members to serve as supervisors within this initiative.

Significant breakthroughs in knowledge and creativity often occur beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries. Innovation and original thinking frequently flourish when we reduce, connect, or intentionally eliminate barriers between fields. The University of Northern British Columbia offers two pathways for interdisciplinary exploration.

The MA track in Interdisciplinary Studies empowers students to pursue academic growth beyond traditional Humanities and Social Sciences frameworks. Similarly, the MSc option facilitates interdisciplinary research that transcends conventional boundaries in Physical and Life Sciences. Prospective students should contact the IDIS Program Chair for guidance on selecting the most suitable track and designing a customized study plan aligned with their research objectives.
