The Métis Studies Certificate provides a focused curriculum for those interested in exploring the Métis Nation through academic coursework. This 30-credit program (10 courses) particularly appeals to Métis individuals, other Indigenous peoples, and professionals collaborating with Indigenous communities.
Students can earn this credential after one year of study, with the option to transfer credits into any UNBC degree program. It pairs exceptionally well with majors including First Nations Studies, Anthropology, History, and various health and social science disciplines.
While primarily based at the Prince George campus, the program incorporates distance learning options where feasible. Regional students may complete the certificate through blended in-person and online delivery methods.
All students must develop their academic plan in consultation with the First Nations Studies Department Chair.
