This program emphasizes geography as an earth science discipline, incorporating foundational studies in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics before advancing to specialized coursework in climatology, hydrology, geomorphology, soil science, and geomatics. The curriculum fosters comprehension of atmospheric, geological, hydrological, and biological system interactions through statistical analysis, cartography, remote sensing, and GIS technologies. Practical field experience and technical training prepare students for professional opportunities in related fields.
Undergraduates must complete at least 13 Geography courses (37 credits), with six being upper-level classes. The program also mandates 24 credits of science electives (15 at upper-division level), plus additional electives to reach the 120-credit minimum for graduation.
A Bachelor of Science in Geography requires completion of at least 120 credit hours.
