Established in 1854, UNB's Civil Engineering department boasts a rich legacy. Our graduate program has equipped countless students with vital engineering expertise to design, develop, and oversee critical infrastructure for contemporary communities.
Whether it's transportation networks, structural projects, sustainable water systems, or green construction, UNB prepares graduates for rewarding careers with engineering firms, non-governmental organizations, government bodies at all levels, and global research institutions.
The Civil Engineering Department provides research-focused programs culminating in Master of Engineering (MEng), Master of Science in Engineering (MScE), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. Typically, MEng or MScE programs span 24 months, while PhD programs require 36 months.
MEng candidates must fulfill 24 credit hours of coursework and submit an engineering report on an approved specialization topic. This report topic requires GAU approval at least six months prior to the anticipated graduation ceremony.
All applicants should hold an undergraduate degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.3 (B average or upper second class standing).
International applicants whose first language is not English must submit language scores that meet or exceed:
International English language testing system (IELTS) = Band 7.5
Paper-based TOEFL = 580
Internet-based TOEFL = 92
Michigan test = 85%
