Established in 1854, UNB's Civil Engineering department boasts a distinguished legacy. Our graduate program has equipped countless students with the critical engineering expertise needed to design, develop, and oversee vital modern infrastructure.
Spanning transportation networks and structural systems to sustainable facilities and water purification centers, UNB prepares graduates for rewarding careers with engineering firms, non-governmental organizations, government bodies at all levels, and global research institutions.
The PhD program focuses on original research, requiring candidates to produce a substantive thesis contributing to civil engineering knowledge. Applicants typically need an engineering or applied science graduate degree. Doctoral candidates must sustain excellent academic performance and successfully complete a Comprehensive Examination within their first year, as evaluated by their PhD committee.
