Psychology examines the reasons behind human actions and thought processes. You'll use scientific methods to study aspects like motivations, behaviors, decisions, and feelings. At the University of New Brunswick Saint John, professors lead innovative studies in fields including criminal justice, forensic psychology, addiction studies, drug effects on behavior, relationship dynamics, deception analysis, animal cognition, and human growth and sensory perception.
Your initial year includes two foundational psychology classes covering key subjects such as brain-behavior connections, personality formation, and psychological disorders. After your second year, you can opt to pursue either a single or combined major in psychology, with an honors track also offered.
Honors candidates must select courses across three core disciplines: biological and cognitive foundations of behavior, social and personality psychology, and clinical/applied psychological practices.
Psychology career paths
Earning a psychology degree demonstrates your expertise in understanding human behavior. You'll gain insights into social influences and recognize possible areas of interpersonal tension. A bachelor's degree serves as the foundation for graduate studies, which are essential for careers as practicing psychologists or university researchers.
