Physics serves as the cornerstone of natural sciences, exploring core principles like energy, force, and spacetime along with their derivatives including mass, charge, and the movement of matter. In essence, it represents a comprehensive study of nature aimed at deciphering the behavior of our world and the cosmos. Physicists strive to uncover the fundamental workings of reality, delving into minute details and profound depths. They tackle pressing scientific and technological challenges while pioneering advancements in instrumentation, measurement methods, and theoretical modeling across diverse fields.
Multiple national studies reveal a growing demand for physicists throughout Canada, with projections indicating this need will intensify over the coming ten years, ensuring strong career prospects for physics graduates.
Students can pursue Physics as a major, double major, minor, or honours specialization within a four-year Bachelor of Science program. The Faculty of Science, established alongside UNB in 1785, stands as one of the university's original academic divisions. Renowned both domestically and globally, the faculty offers students access to exceptional research achievements and highly-regarded graduate programs alongside nationally-recognized undergraduate degrees. Their influential research has positioned four faculty members among the world's top 1% most frequently cited chemistry researchers in scientific literature.
