The Biology-Chemistry program offers a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with major or honors options across two specialized tracks: the Pre-Health Profession (PHP) pathway or the Comprehensive pathway. As one of UNB's interdisciplinary programs, it enables students to explore both biology and chemistry simultaneously, providing extensive coverage across both fields while allowing customization based on personal academic interests.

Through coursework in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics, students gain comprehensive knowledge about living systems (ranging from cellular processes to ecosystem dynamics) and learn how chemical methods, techniques, and molecular-level analysis can be applied to study and modify them. The curriculum includes essential chemistry sub-disciplines that strengthen understanding of biochemical, medical, and pharmaceutical applications.

UNB's Biology and Chemistry departments enjoy prestigious recognition across Canada and globally. Students benefit from our exceptional research achievements, renowned graduate programs, and nationally accredited undergraduate offerings.

Faculty research in these departments has been so impactful that several professors have secured substantial research funding, with some honored as Canada Research Chairs for their national contributions.

Experiential learning opportunities
Laboratory courses emphasize both theoretical foundations and practical skills, focusing on hands-on experimentation and research design.
Qualified, driven students can participate in the Biology-Chemistry co-op program, gaining valuable workplace experience while building professional connections through real-world applications of their studies.
