Advance your education beyond the bachelor's level with a Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacy. This program provides research-focused instruction in disciplines like pharmacology, pharmacoepidemiology, drug utilization, and medication safety. Graduates will be prepared for professional opportunities in academia, the pharmaceutical sector, and public-private research organizations.
Both Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree programs are available. Students can pursue thesis research in pharmaceutical sciences, medicinal chemistry, basic medical sciences, or clinical fields including pharmacoepidemiology, pharmaceutical policy, pharmacoeconomics, patient medication safety, and clinical pharmacy. The college offers four specialization tracks: (i) drug design, development, and delivery, (ii) medication use assessment, effectiveness, and safety, (iii) translational pharmacotherapy, and (iv) molecular biotherapeutics. These areas encompass expertise in drug delivery systems, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, epigenetics & pharmacogenetics, fundamental medical sciences (pharmacology, physiology, molecular and cellular biology), cardiovascular research, neurobiochemistry, natural health products, drug utilization statistics, pharmaceutical outcomes assessment, drug policy, and specialized clinical pharmacy practice areas (renal, geriatric, infectious disease, primary care).
The program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with departments such as Anatomy, Community Health Sciences, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Physiology, Medical Microbiology, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Cell Biology, and the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM). Financial support comes from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, health research grants, and pharmaceutical industry partnerships.
The following are minimum requirements for entry into the Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacy program.
