The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba provides graduate programs leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmacology and Therapeutics. These programs combine academic coursework with hands-on laboratory research. Alongside equipping students with essential medical research capabilities, the Department prioritizes enhancing verbal communication and presentation abilities. First-year students receive guaranteed financial assistance, with encouragement to secure external funding for following years. Our students have successfully obtained grants from governmental bodies including CIHR, NSERC, and MHRC, as well as private institutions like the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, Canadian Diabetes Association, and various Heart and Stroke Foundations. The Ph.D. program involves both structured courses and extensive research, typically completed within four years.
