Biochemistry explores the chemical makeup, processes, and components of biological organisms. This interdisciplinary program is jointly taught and managed by the Microbiology and Chemistry departments. Students can participate in Honours or cooperative work-study (co-op) programs, gaining practical experience in government agencies, private companies, and research facilities. At the University of Manitoba, the Biochemistry Program enables students to merge two captivating fields of life sciences. Featuring distinguished faculty with externally-funded research projects - including holders of one provincial and two national research chairs - the program provides practical research experience, strong connections to other Science and Medicine programs, solid preparation for advanced studies, and top-quality undergraduate lab facilities.
