Biochemistry explores life's processes through the lens of chemistry, bridging our understanding of biological systems with physical science principles. This field examines the molecular foundations of living organisms. The Biochemistry (BSc) program is jointly managed by the Microbiology and Chemistry departments.
This discipline investigates the molecular makeup, functions, and components of biological systems. The program's instruction and oversight are collaboratively handled by both Microbiology and Chemistry departments. Students can gain practical experience through Honours and co-op placements in various laboratory settings, including government, industry, and research facilities. The curriculum covers diverse areas such as cancer biology, molecular genetics, protein structures, biophysical processes, and genomic studies, with hands-on lab sessions to enhance technical proficiency in scientific methodologies.
