Philosophy explores fundamental questions about existence, truth, morality, reasoning, and more. It examines concepts like free will, divinity, scientific principles, artistic expression, emotional experiences, linguistic structures, moral frameworks, logical arguments, and common reasoning errors. As one of the longest-established academic disciplines in Western tradition, it continues to shape intellectual thought.
Those studying philosophy develop exceptional abilities in abstract thinking, precise writing, and objective evaluation of concepts. The BA General program requires 90 credit hours with at least a 2.00 GPA in all major courses. This degree path is ideal for students planning to pursue careers or advanced academic studies after completing their Arts degree.

The following are minimum requirements for entry into the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Direct entry applicants are those who have not attended a post-secondary institution or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college.
Advanced entry applicants are those who have completed one year (24 credit hours) or more of studies in another faculty at the University of Manitoba or another recognized post-secondary institution.
