The Classics Department focuses on exploring the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations that form the foundation of Western cultural heritage. Students engage with diverse disciplines and research approaches when examining the Classical world, such as Ancient History, Archaeology, Art History, Latin and Greek languages, Linguistics, Etymology, Mythology, Literary Studies, Theater, Religion, and Early Western Philosophy. While advanced Greek and Latin language courses are available, most departmental offerings don't require proficiency in these ancient languages.
