Political Science examines the structured analysis of governance, political systems, and civic behavior. It explores how societies manage their administration across different tiers and considers diverse perspectives on future governance models. As a political science scholar, you'll investigate how societies structure and settle political disputes in practical settings. The curriculum covers electoral processes, policy formulation mechanisms, and the organization of decision-making frameworks. You'll gain insights into how nations, including Canada and others, craft and execute legislation and public policies.

The program also examines how officials interpret their responsibilities toward each other and how policy choices are influenced by competing notions of ethics, practicality, and feasibility in various contexts. The Political Science Department provides four specialized concentrations and recommends students select courses across these domains to develop comprehensive expertise. These concentrations include: Canadian Government Studies, Cross-National Political Analysis, Global Affairs, and Philosophical Foundations of Politics.
