As anthropologists, we possess a distinctive ability to interpret, tackle, and engage with today's pressing societal challenges. Our program emphasizes the intersection of anthropological theory and real-world application, drawing on insights into both local communities and worldwide trends. We guide students in examining matters vital to modern governance, public debate, economic survival, and civic engagement, while responding to current global needs. The Public Issues Anthropology (PIA) MA program aims to foster a more just, sustainable, and improved global community.
PIA students cultivate and refine essential analytical, writing, and presentation abilities to utilize anthropological approaches across academic and non-academic environments. Our graduates have undertaken fieldwork in diverse locations such as Botswana, Canada, Honduras, Jamaica, Madagascar, Nepal, and Paraguay.
