UFV's Early Childhood Education diploma expands upon the expertise gained in the ECE certificate program. After developing a solid professional foundation through the certificate, you can enhance your qualifications to specialize in infant care or supporting children with special needs. Both specialization tracks include three shared core courses, plus three distinct specialized courses featuring a 26-hour seminar and 200-hour practicum each. Completing this one-year program qualifies you to apply for Provincial Licensing Board registration as either a special needs supervisor or infant care specialist (for children under three). Graduates are prepared for immediate employment or can advance their education by transitioning into the Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care program.
Students must have a B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent.
English language requirement:
Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 100 to 109.
