During your initial year, you'll fulfill the requirements for either the Horticulture Crop Production and Protection certificate or the Livestock Production certificate before advancing to year two. All coursework from these certificates counts toward the diploma program. In your second year, you'll deepen your specialization in your chosen field, study sustainable holistic farming methods, and examine topics related to food safety, quality, and security on farms. You'll also enhance your writing, business, and marketing abilities through coursework and a practical enterprise project where you'll create a business plan for an agricultural operation. After gaining two years of industry experience, you may choose to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration in Agriculture Management to master core business management principles and prepare for leadership positions in agribusiness or agricultural organizations.
