Media literacy has become a crucial ability for both careers and civic engagement in Canada. That's why UFV provides a three-class, nine-credit Media Literacy associate certificate program to help you develop critical thinking about media content.
Discover how modern communication tools influence our daily lives.
Explore media's impact on people, communities, and cultural groups.
Understand media operations, message selection processes, and their societal consequences.
Study topics including pop culture media, music's role in society, and Canada's creative industries.
In the past, basic job requirements focused on reading, writing, and math. Today, media competence has emerged as the fourth essential skill.

As digital tools expand, workplace demands increasingly include media creation and distribution. Communication abilities are now vital across diverse fields like HR, sales, education, marketing, and service industries. Adding a Media Literacy certificate to your credentials can give you a competitive edge for positions requiring content evaluation skills. This program also serves as valuable continuing education for educators seeking professional growth.
