The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic and Digital Design offers an interactive, practice-oriented education designed to prepare students for professional roles as artists or creative directors within British Columbia's thriving creative sector. Whether pursuing a major, minor, or extended minor in Graphic and Digital Design, BFA students experience immersive, hands-on learning that develops their creative vision, visual literacy, analytical abilities, and design expertise for diverse fields including business, marketing, social innovation, education, and government. Through active participation in design projects and professional networks, students build valuable connections via special events, guest speakers, educational trips, study abroad programs, skill-building workshops, and mentorship from industry leaders. Our program fosters impactful careers, cultural engagement, and positive social contribution.
Option 1: Secondary school (for students with secondary school graduation only)
B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent.
Option 2: University entrance (for students who have post-secondary credit in BFA-related courses)
One of the following:
Completion of a minimum of 15 university-level credits in BFA-related disciplines with a minimum GPA of 2.33, and a cumulative GPA of 2.00 on all courses attempted.
Completion of a minimum of nine university-level credits in BFA-related disciplines with a minimum GPA of 3.00, and a cumulative GPA of 2.33 on all courses attempted.
A UFV diploma in Visual Arts, Fashion Design, Graphic and Digital Design, or Theatre Arts.
A UFV Associate of Arts degree with an option in Theatre or MACS.
English Language Requirement
IELTS (Academic): score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum band score of 6.0
TOEFL (includes Home Edition): score of 88 or higher (iBT) with no section below 20
PTE: score of 61 with 60 in writing
Cambridge: Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) - C
Cambridge: Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - A
EIKEN: Grade 1
English 12 C+ (or recognized Canadian equivalent)
DET: score of 110
Deadline - Winter semester: Sept. 15; Summer semester: Feb. 1; Fall semester: April 15
