The Home Economics Education graduate program is compact yet dynamic. Faculty members have consistently collaborated with peers across the Faculty of Education and other campus departments on research and practical initiatives involving mutual interests. These encompass global learning, critical analysis, nutrition, wellness, sustainability, and reflective practice.
Graduate students in Home Economics Education can explore various academic and career paths, such as educator preparation, instructional methods for high school and college levels. Graduates enter diverse professional environments including educational institutions, entrepreneurial ventures, and leadership positions.
Through the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy, students can pursue a PhD focus area, MA/MEd concentrations in Home Economics Education, along with a secondary teaching (BEd) specialization and Home Economics Education Diploma program.
One to two years’ of teacher education; or a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Education. In special circumstances teacher education may be waived for those applicants who have a university degree with sufficient standing and experience related to their proposed field of study.
Normally two years teaching experience or other relevant professional experience.
PREREQUISITES / COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Normally 18 credits of senior course work or a professional concentration in the area of interest.
