Psychology is a multifaceted field dedicated to exploring the foundations of human behavior, mental processes, and emotional experiences. UBC's psychology program began in 1915 as just one course under the Philosophy Department before expanding over decades, eventually establishing its own Department of Psychology in 1958.
Clinical psychology focuses on addressing various aspects of mental health disorders.
Our studies aim to progress clinical knowledge through scientific investigation and practical applications involving evaluation, comprehension, intervention, and prevention of behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and health-related challenges.
Our investigations seek to enhance quality of life for people facing significant societal concerns such as anxiety disorders, depressive conditions, adolescent suicide risks, parenting challenges, children with social struggles, and physical health complications.
