This interdisciplinary program offers an intensive, sought-after educational path where students earn two graduate degrees in an accelerated format. MAS/LIS candidates develop specialized skills ideal for leadership positions in libraries, archives, records management, and cultural organizations, providing a significant career advantage.
For two decades, this dual-degree initiative has equipped students with comprehensive knowledge in archival and information sciences through varied academic and practical experiences. Graduates receive two master's credentials: one in Archival Studies and an ALA-accredited Library and Information Studies degree. Participants complete both MAS and MLIS programs while benefiting from extensive ties to regional library networks, accessing career growth, networking, and employment prospects across over 150 libraries, archives, museums, and heritage institutions.

Our practical curriculum enables students to apply classroom knowledge through internships, observational learning, and paid cooperative education placements.

Learners frequently collaborate with faculty on diverse research initiatives throughout their studies.

The school features one of North America's exclusive programs specializing in Indigenous information stewardship. The First Nations Curriculum Concentration (FNCC) trains information specialists to serve Indigenous communities effectively, supporting cultural preservation, language revitalization, governance, and legal processes. iSchool students gain hands-on experience in Indigenous-focused information institutions during their academic journey.
