Build advanced research expertise in a focused area while acquiring comprehensive academic knowledge to apply your research pursuits across behavioral neuroscience and psychology.
Every graduate student in Behavioral Neuroscience starts conducting research early in the program, initially with close guidance from an advisor before progressing toward greater independence as their specific research interests take shape. The curriculum requires students to explore diverse subjects encompassing both behavioral and neurobiological aspects of the field.
Behavioral neuroscience faculty members conduct their research at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, which adopts a highly interdisciplinary approach. The center fosters a collaborative scientific culture among researchers, clinicians, and technicians investigating shared roots and interconnected characteristics of neurological and psychiatric conditions.
Faculty research initiatives receive substantial funding from leading national agencies such as NSERC and CIHR.
The BC chapter of the Society for Neuroscience, located on campus, promotes idea-sharing in neuroscience by hosting gatherings attended by researchers from across the region.
