The Socio-Cultural research team comprises academics specializing in sociology and history. Our work examines the societal, cultural, and worldwide dimensions of sports, physical activity, health practices, and bodily studies. Employing primarily qualitative approaches (though not exclusively), our investigations draw upon critical frameworks including gender theory, educational studies, aging research, media analysis, Indigenous perspectives, disability discourse, and other interdisciplinary fields.

Qualification Requirements

The program is governed by the general requirements for the PhD degree as laid out by the Faculty of Graduate Studies policies and procedures. In addition to the Faculty of Graduate Studies' provisions, the School of Kinesiology normally requires a thesis-based master's degree in Human Kinetics, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or other related fields of study, with a minimum of 76% (B plus ) overall for admission.

All students must have an individual faculty member who agrees during the application process to serve as the student's supervisor.

IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 7.0 is required with a minimum score of 6.5 in each component.
