The Indigenous Studies in Kinesiology (ISK) program aims to familiarize students, faculty, and staff with Indigenous perspectives on health and wellness while offering a thorough examination of the diverse social, cultural, historical, and economic influences affecting health in Indigenous populations.
Through collaboration with Indigenous communities, ISK seeks to establish an interdisciplinary research environment where students, academics, and community experts jointly investigate connections between Indigenous physical traditions, exercise, and holistic wellbeing. Initiatives in this field employ community-centered methods that leverage local assets to generate culturally appropriate and meaningful insights.
